Vilenica Cave is located in the Karst region, in the immediate vicinity of the village of Lokev – just an hour’s drive from Ljubljana and a stone’s throw from Trieste. Its location offers excellent accessibility as the highway is only 10 minutes away. We offer free parking right in front of the cave entrance that is suitable for cars, motorhomes, and buses.
BY CAR
On the Primorska Highway A1, take the exit towards Italy (A3) and exit at SEŽANA EAST. Continue through Sežana and at the second traffic light intersection, turn in the direction of Lipica. After leaving Sežana, the road takes you through two roundabouts. Drive past the turnoff for Lipica and after a few minutes, a road branches off to the left (the turnoff is marked), which brings you to the parking lot at Vilenica Cave after 100 meters.

BY TRAIN AND ON FOOT
In Ljubljana, choose the train to Sežana. From Sežana train station, walk across the bridge to the roundabout for Lipica. There will be the first signs for the Sežana-Vilenica-Lokev footpath, which leads over the Sedovnik saddle. The easy trail will take you about 1.5 hours. You can return the same way.
