Vilenica Cave has been open for tourist visits for almost 400 years. This underground karst beauty that nature has been creating and shaping for several million years was considered the largest, most beautiful, and most visited cave in the Karst region until the mid-19th century. It needs to be preserved for future generations to visit and promote with pride. To ensure that your visit is safe and pleasant for both you and the cave, we ask that you follow a few simple rules during your visit and heed all instructions and warnings of the guide.
To avoid light pollution, Vilenica is illuminated separately during the guided tour. Artificial light causes algae and lichen to grow in the caves, the so-called lampenflora, which changes the environment and life in the caves. Therefore, we ask that you do not leave your guide and group behind due to darkness in other parts of the cave.
Since the humidity in the air is almost at 100%, the steps are slippery. We recommend that you hold on to the safety railing during the tour.
Photography in the cave is only permitted without the use of a flash. The use of cameras and recording equipment requires a prior permission from the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning.
Nature has been creating dripstone formations for thousands of years. So that nature’s creativity would never wither, we do not touch any dripstone formations! The fats contained in human skin prevent further deposition of calcite on stalactites, thus inhibiting their growth.
Take any waste with you.
Food leftovers could change the cave environment, so do not bring any food or drink into the cave.
Pets are not allowed in the cave, as their presence, like food and drink, can change the fragile ecosystem.

- Ne zapuščajte označenih poti. Vedno ostanite v skupini in upoštevajte vodnikova navodila.
- Ne dotikajte se kapnikov. Vsak dotik lahko ustavi njihovo rast in povzroči nepopravljivo škodo.
- Ne odmetavajte odpadkov. Ohranimo jamo čisto in neokrnjeno.
- Ne uporabljajte bliskavice ali stativa pri fotografiranju. Svetloba lahko moti jamski ekosistem.
- Ne kadite v jami. Jamski zrak je občutljiv in čist, zato ga ne onesnažujmo.
- Ne prinašajte hrane ali pijače v jamo. Ostanki hrane lahko privabijo neželene organizme in spremenijo jamsko okolje.
- Ne mečite kovancev ali drugih predmetov v vodne površine. To lahko škoduje naravnim procesom v jami.
